Hi, my name is Ward Minnis and I’m originally from the sunny isles of the Bahamas. Coming from an artistic family I’ve been around art all of my life. I can’t tell you when I first picked up a pencil to draw, however, I do know when was the first time I picked up a mouse to design, and that was in 1995. I had recently graduated high school and I used the money I had saved from some hand drawn posters to score me an old broken-down PC computer from a friend. Since then I’ve been hooked.
I’ve been busily expanded my skill set since then. I got an associates degree in Fine Art from The College of The Bahamas and put up a full blown art-show with fellow class-mate, Jace McKinney. We called it the “Famous Faces of Nassau”.
Besides painting and the visual arts I also have a passion for the written word and I earned a Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Caribbean Studies and a Masters degree in History from Carleton Universty.
I’ve taken my creative writing on the stage and I recently put up my first play in Nassau called the Cabinet which I also acted in and produced. Of course I did the graphic design and posters for it! Now I’m back in Ottawa, Canada ready to make your project the best that it can be.
I have 10+ years in graphic design and I’m at the expert level in Adobe graphic programs like Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. I was a finalist in the 2000 PhotoshopWorld guru awards. This means that I can handle everything from designing your logo to managing your corporate identity. I focus mainly on print projects, which can go from business cards and posters to flyers and brochures to annual reports and books.
I’m a fine artist and acrylic painter and I’ve exhibited my art internationally, so I can start your project at the photo realistic level and maybe shift it over into a cartoon-animated style and then take it over to impressionism. My style is as flexible as it needs to be to get your point across.
I’m a playwright, published poet, short story writer, essayist and cultural critic. I have a BA English Lit and a Master’s degree in History, so if your project is creative or technical I can handle it. Need some flavor in your marketing copy?
